This tutorial will tell you how to install cIOS (custom IOS). This is required if you want to load games with a USB Loader. Some homebrew might work better using cIOS.

IOS236 Installer v5. IOS236 is a patched version of IOS36 that makes installation of other IOSes easy, even if the other IOS slots are filled by stubs already. See the IOSes Explained page for more info. Note: the network bug should hopefully now be fixed with the release of v5, but I have not been able to test as I am away from.

• Launch the Homebrew Channel, then launch IOS 236 Installer-IOS236 Installer v6 will load. Press 1 to start the application-The installer will now want a IOS36 revision 3351 to use, you will be defaulted on the option –, simply press A to select your SD card.
• Select the 'IOS236 Installer v6' option and click 'Load.' This will start the installer and a bunch of text will appear on the screen. Press '1' on the Wii remote to begin the installation. IOS236 will begin installing. Select ' when prompted. This will download the essential files. Press 'A' when prompted to begin.
• Adjusted the tag on the IOS236 WAD from Download Page 1 so that it reports the same detailed info in sysCheck logs as the version installed by the IOS236 Installer homebrew. This WAD is still not used in any ModMii functions, but it remains available for download. Wizards/Guides (6.6.0).

If you have a Wii U (vWii), follow this guide to install cIOS instead. Attempting to install any other cIOS on vWii won’t work.

If you have a Wii mini, install this cIOS instead. Attempting to install any other cIOS on a Wii mini won’t work.

What you need

• A Wii with an Internet connection
• An SD card or USB drive

Ensure that if you are using an SD card, the lock switch is in the unlocked position, otherwise you will not be able to select the correct options in the installer

Section I - Downloading

1. Download d2x cIOS Installer and extract it to the apps folder on your SD card or USB drive.
2. Insert your SD card or USB drive into your Wii, and launch d2x cIOS Installer from the Homebrew Channel.

Although the majority of games should work straight away with the defaults, some may require using a specific cIOS to function, or to utilize certain features within the game.
Examples include:

• Using a keyboard in Animal Crossing: City Folk.
• Running SpongeBob’s Boating Bash.

To change the cIOS used for a specific game, follow these instructions:

1. Select the game that isn’t working.
2. Click Settings.
3. Select Game Load.
4. Scroll down to Game IOS.
5. Enter the IOS slot to use.
   • Try using 250 or 251, if 249 doesn’t work.
6. Press ok and try to load the game.
